UTI? When Antibiotics and Cranberries Don't Work- Try This!

Urinary tract infections effect 1 out of 5 women on a regular basis. Most believe they have no other option but to go to their medical doctor and get prescribed an unnecessary round of antibiotics. Yes, antibiotics provide quick relief and let one to believe that they have overcome the issue, only then to have a recurring problem and turn to antibiotics once again. The problem with this is that antibiotics can be very damaging to the health of your gut, as well as cause other harmful effects to the endocrine, immune, and digestive system.

Many women get UTI's from bad hygiene, however, this isn't always the cause. Some women are more susceptible to a UTI after sex, especially after childbirth.

The good news is that women can get quick and long term relief with an all natural ingredient called D-mannose. Many of us have not heard of this simple sugar molecule and have only heard of cranberry juice as a natural cure for UTI’s. Cranberries can be helpful, but due to its high sugar content and high daily intake that would be needed, they don’t tend to be a feasible option. Cranberries contain D-mannose, however, the amount they contain falls short to provide the full efficacious dosage.

Pure D-mannose, on the other hand, is an indigestible sugar that, when filtered throughout the body, attaches to foreign contaminants in the urinary tract and washes them out of the system before they can get a strong hold and cause an infection within the system.

The desirable dosages are between 500mg to 6grams. The good thing is that it's cheap and widely available in both capsule and powder form. There are no contradictions known and it has been proven relatively safe even in high dosages.

Women that are prone to infections should take 500-2grams before and after having sex, along with immediately after having any symptoms 3-4 times a day until the infection clears up. Most women report feeling immediate relief within 1-2 days after taking D-mannose.

Cranberries can still be combined with D-mannose, along with Probiotics, to help accelerate the healing process and offer better long term urinary health stability.

I personally like the bulk powder form of the supplement because it’s the most economical. I always make sure that I have some on hand in case I fall victim of a UTI.
